Restoring Your Registration

If you wish to return to practice as a pharmacist and you have been previously registered with the PSI, you can apply to have your name restored to the register.

You can apply to restore your registration in the PSI online registration portal. Please log in to your account and select ‘Restoration to Register after Cancellation’. 

If you were cancelled off the register prior to September 2021, you may need to contact us by email at registration@psi.ie to get access to your account. Please quote your registration number and that you want to restore your registration to the register. 

Restoration following voluntary cancellation 

Pharmacists who have voluntarily cancelled their registration have the right to apply for restoration to the Register of Pharmacists, subject to the successful completion of a restoration process.

An applicant must: 

  • complete the restoration process in the PSI online registration portal, providing details of practice and confirmation of on-going CPD since cancellation from the PSI Register 
  • Applicants should provide 2-3 pieces of CPD completed in the last 12-24 months 
  • pay the specified fee 
  • provide 2 recent photographs 
  • provide a certificate of current professional status if registered as a pharmacist elsewhere, 
  • provide a criminal clearance certificate if living abroad or a statutory declaration if living in Ireland, confirming professional status if not registered or practising elsewhere during the period of cancellation. 

An applicant must: 

  • complete the restoration process in the PSI online registration portal, providing details of practice and confirmation of on-going CPD since cancellation from the PSI register

  • undertake to complete a self-assessment against the Core Competency framework to assess competency and learning needs 
  • This should be uploaded to the online application under “Self-Assessment Document”

  • undertake to complete a self-assessment against the Core Competency framework to assess competency and learning needs 
  • this should be uploaded to their online application under “Self-Assessment Document” 
  • undertake to engage in a period of practical training/re-familiarisation of not less than 2 weeks if she/he has not practiced in another jurisdiction during the period of cancellation from the Register 

Exemption from this requirement may be obtained: 

  • upon the production of satisfactory evidence that she or he has been engaged in direct patient care pharmacy practice in another jurisdiction 
  • in circumstances where she or he does not intend to return to direct patient facing roles, a statement to this effect along with a commitment to undertake the period of mentored training if she or he subsequently decides to do so. 

An applicant must: 

  • complete the restoration process in the PSI online registration portal, providing details of practice or activities and confirmation of on-going CPD since cancellation from PSI Register 
  • pay the specified fee. Visit our fees page for more information. 
  • provide 2 recent photographs 
  • provide a certificate of current professional status if registered as a pharmacist elsewhere 
  • provide a criminal clearance certificate if living abroad or a statutory declaration if living in Ireland confirming professional status if not registered or practising elsewhere during the period of cancellation if living in Ireland, confirming professional status if not registered or practising elsewhere during the period of cancellation. 
  • undertake to complete a self-assessment against the Core Competency framework to assess competency and learning needs 
  • This should be uploaded to their online application under “Self-Assessment Document” 
  • undertake to engage in a period of practical training/re-familiarisation of not less than 4 weeks if she or he has not practiced in another jurisdiction during the period of cancellation from the Register Exemption from this requirement may be obtained upon the production of satisfactory evidence that she or he has been engaged in direct patient care pharmacy practice in another jurisdiction 
  • in circumstances where she or he does not intend to return to direct patient facing roles, a statement to this effect along with a commitment to undertake the period of mentored training if she or he subsequently decides to do so. 

Restoration following involuntary cancellation 

Pharmacists involuntarily cancelled from the Register of Pharmacists for non-payment of fees can undergo a restoration process if this request is received by the PSI within six months following the due date of payment of the annual fee. You can do this online in the registration portal.

Re-Registration

Pharmacists removed from the Register of Pharmacists for non-payment of fees and who fail to make an application for restoration within the six-month period following the due date of payment of the annual fee for continued registration, will need to apply to re-register through the first-time registration process.
