Changes to Registration Details

The PSI must be notified of any change to a pharmacy's registration details. Certain changes to pharmacy registration details require the submission of an application and approval by the PSI, while some take effect immediately and do not require approval by the PSI. See below for further details.

Changes that do not require the submission of an application

Certain changes to pharmacy registration details take effect immediately upon amendment and do not required submission of an application. These changes can be made directly by the pharmacy owner, the Superintendent Pharmacist, or the Supervising Pharmacist via the PSI online registration portal account.

These include changes to:

  • Pharmacy contact details such as phone, fax, email address and can only be updated by the pharmacy owner
  • Pharmacy staff changes other than Superintendent/Supervising Pharmacist can be updated by the Superintendent Pharmacist, the Supervising Pharmacist, or the pharmacy owner
  • Pharmacy opening hours can be updated by the Superintendent Pharmacist, the Supervising Pharmacist, or the pharmacy owner
  • Services provided by the pharmacy can be updated by the Superintendent Pharmacist, the Supervising Pharmacist, or the pharmacy owner

Changes that do require the submission of an application

Certain changes to pharmacy registration details require the submission of an application. Before the requested change can be reflected on the pharmacy registration record and on the PSI Register, we I will undertake a review of the application to verify the provided details. The change will be reflected on the pharmacy registration record once the application has been approved by the PSI.

To request these changes, the pharmacy owner must submit a relevant application via the PSI registration portal which is accessible 24/7 and includes instructions and informational videos to guide you through the process.

These changes include:

Changes and appointments of Supervising and Superintendent pharmacists must be submitted via the PSI registration portal. For guidance on the application process and related information, kindly visit our information on Superintendent and Supervising Pharmacists.

As the Register of Pharmacies is published online and is searchable by members of the public, it is important that the registered trading name of a pharmacy is accurately reflected in the pharmacy signage so that the pharmacy is easily identifiable to the public. All documentation such as pharmacy labels, prescription receipts, daily audits etc., must also accurately reflect the registered trading name.

Applications for changes to pharmacy layout must be submitted via the PSI registration portal, along with the required documentation and the payment of the applicable fee. Please log in to your account on the online registration portal and go to ‘Manage my Pharmacies’. Then select ‘Material Change’ and ‘Change to Pharmacy Layout’

If the change of layout is merely a refurbishment or rearranging of the pharmacy floorplan an online application and payment of the related fee might not be required. Please contact info@psi.ie if you need any clarification before you submit your application.

The following documentation must be uploaded as part of ‘Change to Pharmacy Layout’ application:

  1. Photographs of completed works

These photographs should:

  • Cover the updated pharmacy layout, including the dispensary area, consultation area and OTC area
  1. The pharmacy layout plan

This plan should:

  • Identify the dimensions of the area of the Retail Pharmacy Business (in m2)
  • Identify the dimensions of the dispensary and the area in which pharmacist supervised medicines are stored (in m2)
  • Identify patient consultation area(s)
  • Clearly demarcate the professional services and retail areas
  • Identify any storage areas where medicinal products or pharmacy records are located
