Minister for Health invites applications to fill one position on the PSI Council

The Minister for Health is currently inviting applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill one position available on the PSI Council.

This member of Council is sought in line with section 10(3)(c) of the Pharmacy Act 2007, which requires the appointment of a person appearing to the Minister to be representative of the provision of continuing professional development in relation to pharmacy. This position may not be filled by a pharmacist or any person who has ever been registered as a pharmacist.

Candidates must demonstrate in their application evidence at an appropriately senior level of experience/skills in the following areas:

  • Development and implementation of a CPD model/framework for a regulated profession
  • Evaluation of CPD models/frameworks for a regulated profession

All relevant details are contained in an information booklet on the State Boards website. Closing date for applications is 3pm on Wednesday, 16 August 2023.

The PSI – the pharmacy regulator is governed by a 21-member Council, with a non-pharmacist majority, and each member is appointed by the Minister for Health in accordance with the provisions of the Pharmacy Act 2007. Members appointed to the PSI Council act in the public interest to ensure that the statutory functions of the PSI are performed effectively. Collectively, members of the Council should provide the relevant expertise, knowledge and experience necessary for the Council to fulfil all of its statutory duties and governance responsibilities. The Council is accountable to the Minister for Health and to the Oireachtas.
