Applying for an Exemption from Participation in ePortfolio Review
Read the ePortfolio Review Exemption Policy to understand how pharmacists can confidentially apply the PSI for an exemption from ePortfolio Review.
While it is the expectation that all pharmacists participate in ongoing CPD as part of their registration, we understand circumstances may arise where a pharmacist is unable to submit their ePortfolio for review. Pharmacists who feel they are unable to participate in the annual ePortfolio Review process should review the ePortfolio Review Exemption Policy to determine whether they may be eligible for an exemption and, where appropriate, have the Exemption Application - Supporting Documentation Form completed by their medical practitioner and/or employer in advance of applying.
Those who wish to apply for an exemption for consideration should first review the ePortfolio Review Exemption Policy.
An exemption application is valid for one ePortfolio Review period only. Registrants must apply annually for an exemption, even if it is for the same reason/circumstance. This includes having a current/in-date Supporting Documentation Form.
Submitting an application for exemption
The exemption application is available in the registrants’ account on the PSI Registration Portal and requires supporting documentation to be uploaded at the time of submission.
To assist with the timely processing of your application and to minimise the level of personal information being shared, we strongly encourage use of the Exemption Application - Supporting Documentation Form rather than submitting alternative documentation. If this is not possible, the Exemption Policy outlines alternative documentation that may be submitted instead.
If the Supporting Documentation Form has been completed/uploaded, no additional documents are required unless specifically requested by the PSI at a later stage.
Guide to submitting an application for exemption in the Registration portal
- Login to the registration portal (like you would when applying for continued registration).
- Click on CPD Exemption Application.
3. Ensure you have read the exemption policy and your supporting documentation is ready to be uploaded. Click Request ePortfolio Review Exemption.
4. Fill in the application and upload your required documentation. Once submitted, you will receive an email from cpd@psi.ie confirming receipt.
5. You will be notified of the outcome of your application by email. We aim to review all exemption applications within 25 working days of receiving a complete submission.
6. Your current application status and the history of your exemption applications (from 2026/27 onwards) can also be viewed on the portal.
Please note the following status definitions:
| Application status | Review status | Meaning |
| Under review | Eligible | Your application is still being assessed, and no decision has been made yet |
| Complete | Eligible | A decision has been made and your exemption application was not approved |
| Complete | Exemption approved | Exemption Approved: Your exemption application has been approved, and you are not required to participate in the ePortfolio Review/CPD Cycle relating to your application. |
Applications for exemption will be managed on a case-by-case basis in the strictest of confidence.
If you have any queries about the process, you can email cpd@psi.ie.
