Laura Sahm, PSI Council member

Prof. Laura J. Sahm received a B.Sc. Pharm(Hons) from University of Brighton (1990) and obtained her Ph.D. in Pharmaceutics (University of Bath) in 1995. She moved to Germany in 1996, where she worked in community pharmacy and for the pharmaceutical industry (Takeda GmbH). Returning to Ireland, she worked as a senior clinical pharmacist in the Bon Secours Hospital in Cork before joining the School of Pharmacy at University College Cork (UCC) in October 2005. Until 2015 her position was a joint appointment between UCC and Mercy University Hospital (MUH) where she worked as a consultant research pharmacist on research projects. Since 2015, Laura is a Senior Lecturer in Clinical Pharmacy and Director of the MPharm Programme. In 2021, Laura was appointed Vice Dean of the School of Pharmacy and Acting head of Clinical Pharmacy Practice at UCC.

From 2018–2021, Laura was appointed to the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI). She has served as a member of the Education, Training, and Standards Committee, the Audit and Risk Committee, and the Fitness to Practise Committee of the NMBI.

Laura is appointed to the PSI Council as the representative of the Schools of Pharmacy in Ireland.
